About FoMPEM
The Foundation of Mineral Processing & Extractive Metallurgy (FoMPEM) is the premier international conference concentrating on the fundamentals and applications of Mineral Processing and Extractive Metallurgy. The first FoMPEM was held successfully in Antofagasta, Chile in 2019. More than 100 scientists and engineers in the world enthusiastically participated this conference to share their perspectives and to discuss how academic research and industrial development can make contributions to mineral processing and metallurgy so that people can better overcome the current and future challenges in the mining industry. With the great success of the event, an agreement was reached to make the FoMPEM every two years in America and Asia.
Building on this success, the second FoMPEM was held in Huainan, China in 2023, followed by the third edition in San Pedro de Atacama, Chile in 2025, further solidifying its reputation as a pivotal platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration. Looking ahead, the fourth FoMPEM will take place in Guangzhou, China, with the primary goal of advancing the field of mining and metallurgical science and technology. The conference aims to foster greater academic interaction among international peers while providing a comprehensive overview of the latest developments and emerging research directions at both domestic and global scales.
